Fifth-Ranked Softball Team Blanks Bluffton 3-0

Carly Myers recorded her 25th career win against Bluffton
Kissimmee, Fla. – The fifth-ranked softball team recorded is second shutout of the by defeating Bluffton (6-4) 3-0. The Bombers went 9-1 at the Rebel Games, marking their best start since going 9-1 to begin the 1992 season. Sophomore pitcher Carly Myers (Claremont Secondary/Victoria, British Columbia) allowed just three hits over seven innings to record her fourth win of the year.
 
Junior left fielder Mel Chinigo (Norwich Free Academy/Norwich, Conn.) led off the top of the fourth inning with a double and later scored on an error to put Ithaca ahead 1-0. Sophomore Erica Cutspec (Fort Plain/Fort Plain) singled and scored on an error in the top of the fifth and sophomore first baseman Stacy Pelesz (Hudson/Livingston) singled to drive in junior center fielder Jenn Marro (Bethlehem Central/Delmar) in the top of the seventh for the 3-0 final.
 
Marro was one-for-two with a run scored, while Chinigo and Cutspec each went one-for-three with a run scored. Pelesz was one-for-two with one RBI.
 
The Bombers will open their Empire 8 schedule on Wednesday, March 15, with a doubleheader at Elmira at 3 p.m.
